The Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society was founded in 1781 and has the objective of presenting lectures and events on scientific, philosophical and artistic topics to the general public in Manchester.
On 8 March Sir Paul Nurse, Director of the Francis Crick Institute in London will give a lecture entitled 'What is Life?'.
This hybrid event will be held in the Royal Northern College of Music on Oxford Road at 6.30pm and live screened for those unable to attend in person
Speaker bio:
Paul Nurse is a geneticist and cell biologist who works on how the eukaryotic cell cycle is controlled. His major work has been on the cyclin dependent protein kinases and how they regulate cell reproduction. He is Director of the Francis Crick Institute in London, Chancellor of the University of Bristol, and has served as President of the Royal Society, Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK and President of Rockefeller University.
