Arthur Lewis Annual Lecture: The Enemy between Us - The Psychological and Social Costs Of Inequality
We are delighted to announce that Professor Kate Pickett of Epidemiology in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York will be delivering our annual public lecture.
Professor Pickett is best known for co-authoring (with Richard G. Wilkinson) The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better in 2009. The Spirit Level was voted one of the Top Ten Books of the Decade by the New Statesman and was winner of Publication of the Year by the Political Studies Association. It has been translated into 23 languages.
Professor Pickett is a co-founder and trustee of The Equality Trust, which works to improve the quality of life in the UK by reducing inequality. She was awarded a 2013 Silver Rose Award from Solidar for championing equality, and the 2014 Charles Cully Memorial Medal by the Irish Cancer Society.
