Professor Barbara McCaskill (University of Georgia) will discuss her new book Love, Liberation, and Escaping Slavery: William and Ellen Craft in Cultural Memory. She will explain what attracted her to this research path and will give some examples of the Crafts' reception in the British and American Press which illuminate how they navigated as fugitive American slaves in the 19th century. She will then answer questions on the project.
