 ão Paulo) will present the preliminary results of the research “State Vi
 olence in Brazil: A Study of Crimes of May 2006 in the Perspective of th
 e Transitional Justice and Forensic Anthropology”  a project in collabor
 ation with the University of Oxford and supported by the Newton Fund. Th
 e overall goal of the project is to consolidate the area of Forensic Ant
 hropology from the perspective of Human Rights in Brazil. This initiativ
 e is part of Transitional Justice actions that have been carried out slo
 wly in the country\, over thirty years since the end of the military dic
 tatorship (1964-1985). A culture of impunity is responsible for the perp
 etuation of the authoritarian past and has serious consequences in terms
  of police violence and the disrespect for human rights. This research w
 ill lead to a set of protocols that can be implemented by the state in o
 rder to improve Brazilian democracy in the perspective of Transitional J
 ustice and Forensic Anthropology.\n
