 overty reduction at the Brooks World Poverty Institute and the Chronic P
 overty Research Centre at the University of Manchester\, and was previou
 sly an assistant professor of political science at the University of Cai
 ro. \nSolava received her PhD in Development Studies from Cambridge.  He
 r publications include the co-edited The Capability Approach from Theory
  to Practice\, and The Role of Local Councils in Empowerment and Poverty
  Reduction in Egypt as well as articles in Third World Quarterly\, Oxfor
 d Development Studies and the Journal of Human Development.
