The UK Data Service is holding a webinar on diet and obesity in children as part of a series showcasing research using new and novel forms of data.
This is a collaborative webinar involving Margherita Ceraolo from the UK Data Service, and Michelle Morris from the Consumer Data Research Centre, at the University of Leeds.
Margherita Ceraolo will introduce Phase 2 of the Big Data Network and will highlight the research opportunities and potential of the data available through the Network.
Michelle Morris will give an overview of the study she conducted exploring social and spatial determinants of diet and obesity in children at a local area level in two regions of the UK. The research combined data on diet (from a study which investigated change in diet as an outcome of a Royal Horticultural Society school gardening intervention in London) and obesity (from the Rugby League and Athletic Development Scheme in Leeds) in children with the commercial geodemographic classification CAMEO. The presentation will discuss the findings and will also focus on benefits of combining multiple datasets to generate greater insight into applied societal challenges.
The webinar will consist of a 30 minute presentation followed by questions.
