This Morgan Centre Conversation/ConnecteDNA event seeks to make connections in third party assisted reproduction research. It does so in two ways. In part, it aims to bring together scholars from across the globe, contributing social science analysis of current and emerging issues in third party reproduction. And it also seeks to share evidence of and make connections between the varied practices and experiences of assisted conception in different parts of the world. Transnational issues for discussion include, but are not limited to, commercial DNA testing, calls for international regulation, the international circulation of people, technologies and gametes, a globalised multi-billion dollar fertility industry and the growing impact of social media/ICTs, and the varied and specific local/regional responses, contexts and experiences emerging in response to these developments.
With the aim of creating a space for discussion and debate, we seek contributions from across the social sciences. Contributions do not necessarily need to be in the form of a finished paper (although they can be), but can also be brief reflections, social commentaries, case studies or ‘work in progress’. Depending on interest, contributions may be in the shape of presentations lasting somewhere between 10-20 minutes. If you wish to attend the event and are interested in presenting (please note that presenting is optional), you can request your slot when registering.
