 ptoacoustic Tomography (MSOT) is a powerful new pre-clinical and clinica
 l imaging modality that visualises the spectral response of chromophores
  in vivo\, with high resolution\, to depths of several centimetres. Uniq
 uely\, it provides the capacity to separate endogenous signals of intere
 st such as oxy-/deoxy-hemoglobin  & tissue contrast from extrinsically a
 dministered agents including nanoparticles and fluorescent dyes or prote
 ins.  Within this talk\, we will outline the principles  of optoacoustic
  imaging & show how MSOT can be used to characterize a range of pre-clin
 ical disease models and applications including cancer\, nanoparticle kin
 etics/biodistribution\, neurobiology\, cardiovascular\, inflammation and
  toxicity. We will also introduce MSOT as a clinical tool and highlight
