DESCRIPTION:Have you\, or would you like to set up a community garden in 
 your local area?\n\nAre you interested in recovering a green space to pr
 oduce your own food?\n\nOr simply curious to find out more about the rol
 e of urban gardening Manchester's fight against climate change?\n\nWheth
 er you’re a novice gardener\, a local community group\, park\, business\
 , researcher or an established community garden\, everybody is welcome t
 o join us for our lunchtime urban gardening workshop.\n\nWhat's it about
 ?\n\nA series of interactive talks\, where you’ll have the chance to hea
 r from\, discuss\, and get involved with fellow community members hoping
  to drive positive change through sustainable food.\n\nWe’ll explore the
  role of urban gardening in helping us to build safe\, resilient and sus
 tainable cities and how Manchester Urban Diggers\, a community of market
  gardeners\, are driving environmental and social change across our city
 -region. Hear about how Manchester Urban Diggers CIC and other urban gro
 wers & community gardens are driving environmental and social change acr
 oss our city-region.\n\nSecondly\, with 30% of the UK’s territorial Gree
 nhouse gas emissions produced by our food systems\, Dr Jo Mylan\, Lectur
 er in Sustainability and Innovation at The University of Manchester will
  explore why we must incorporate food into Manchester’s Climate Change R
 esponse\, and the transformational possibilities of sustainable food in 
 the city.\n\nFinally\, talk to Manchester Urban Diggers about their expe
 rience of setting up a community market garden and other community food 
 growing projects across Greater Manchester\, with a tour of Platt Fields
  Market Garden. Hopefully you'll not only learn a little\, with advice &
  tips to support your green project\, but you'll meet some like-minded p
 eople to work with in the community too!\n\nA chef’s garden table to tas
 te the delights of Platt Fields Market Garden will be served for lunch.\

 ip between MUD and three Manchester-based researchers: Dr Filippo Oncini
 \, The University of Manchester\, Ling Li\, The University of Liverpool 
 & Sarah Walker\, School of Art\, Manchester Metropolitan University. Fac
 ilitated by Collaboration Labs\, based at The University of Manchester a
 nd funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.\n\nIn partnership
  with Manchester Urban Diggers\, the Sustainable Consumption Institute\,
  and Collaboration Labs at The University of Manchester.\n\nThis event i
 s part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2021 and was made possible
