This seminar is part of the FLS Research Skills Seminar Series.
This session will explain why Open Access is something all researchers should consider in their publication strategy. Funders increasingly require it but authors benefit from increased visibility and citations. Researchers funded by RCUK and the Charity Open Access Fund medical charities need to understand Gold Open Access but all researchers need to understand Green Open Access to ensure that papers are eligible for submission to the next REF. In this session we'll discuss how to comply with your funder's Open Access policy and explain the key points of the HEFCE policy due to launch in April 2016.
Helen Dobson of the University of Manchester Library will discuss what is Open Access? what are the open access routes open to you? how to publish using the Open Access route.
