DESCRIPTION:The Museum’s new Living Worlds gallery explores the connectio
 ns between all living things\, including us\, and shows how we can all s
 hape the future by the choices we make.\n\nOne of the choices we can mak
 e is to grow food – on our windowsills\, in our gardens\, in our schools
  or even an allotment.    \n\nFrom May to November 2011 you will find ou
 r allotment outside the front entrance.  It has been created by voluntee
 rs\, visitors\, community groups\, a children's centre\, university scie
 ntists and students and Museum staff.  Some of us know lots about garden
 ing and many of us are beginners – so this project is all about sharing 
 skills and a love of the outdoors.\n\nWe are also exploring our collecti
 ons and unearthing all sorts of extraordinary related objects – from a 1
 7th century watering can and dried pea plants found on the banks of the 
 River Mersey to ancient Egyptian farming tools and a wide range of garde
 n insects.\n\nAll good allotments have sheds\, and in our shed you’ll be
  able to find out about other local gardening and food projects and let 
 us know what you think.\n\nWe're keeping our fingers crossed for lots of
  sunshine (and some famous Manchester rain) to help those crops grow.
