DESCRIPTION:Ludwig van Beethoven\, String Quartet No. 14\, Op.131 \nCésar
Franck\, String Quartet in D Major \n\nThe Quatuor Danel presents two m
ature works concerned with exploring infinite unity within infinite dive
rsity. To mark the bicentenary of the composer’s birth\, the concert inc
ludes César Franck’s only quartet\, which was completed in 1890. Gustav
Mahler exclaimed that a symphony should ‘contain the whole world’\, and
Beethoven does just that with four instruments. Beethoven’s Op.131 was c
ompleted in profoundest phase of his creative output in 1826 and its sop
 histicated\, interwoven\, seven-movement structure takes us on a journey
from complex to naïve\, to quirky to sublime to terrifying.
