DESCRIPTION:The Sustainability sandpit is a two-day event scheduled to ta
 ke place from 14.00 to 16.00 on Weds 17 and Thurs 18 November.\n\nWe are
  keen to facilitate a sandpit where a range of stakeholders come togethe
 r to discuss issues and potential solutions around sustainability in whi
 ch Data Science and Artificial Intelligence can play a key role.\n\nPart
 icipants will develop proposals over the two days and our review panel w
 ill award funding for a number of six-month feasibility studies (~£10-15
 k per successful proposal).\n\nPlease note that due to the nature of thi
 s funding\, each funded project must be led by a researcher from The Uni
 versity of Manchester.\n\nIntellectual Property rights will be subject t
 o terms and conditions as agreed between the Alan Turing Institute and T
 he University of Manchester.\n\nPlease share this invitation with suitab
 le collaborators: this sandpit is an opportunity for researchers\, priva
 te\, public and third sector to come together and devise research propos
 als for projects on topics related to sustainability and data science an
 d AI.\n\nBackground:\n\nThrough our partnership with the Alan Turing Ins
 titute\, the University of Manchester’s Institute for Data Science and A
 rtificial Intelligence (IDSAI) is hosting a number of ‘sandpit’ events i
 n Autumn-Winter 2021-22\, with input from the related Turing Institute p
 rogrammes.
