Title:
Primary Care Research Support Unit in Cumbria and Lancashire, supporting researchers from protocol development to follow-up
Researchers in Primary Care often have to deal with more complicated study set-up logistics than other studies. There are often numerous sites in different parts of the country and different approval processes to navigate.
Cumbria and Lancashire Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN) are one of 25 CLRNs across England funded by the NIHR. We have fairly large amounts of NIHR portfolio research activity in primary care and over 50 research active practices. We have developed a model of primary care development and delivery which has enabled us to deliver a continuous increase in the number of studies which can be placed with practices since the network began. Studies are supported by the Primary Care Research Support Unit – a team which offers a single point of contact for researchers and management and governance approval for the whole of the region.
This presentation describes how the Primary Care Business Unit operates, including initiatives to develop GPs and practice nurses in development and delivery of research; the flexible trials team who support primary care; and the research management and governance support.
We will answer any questions that the attendees have in relation to how we work, including approvals, costing, sites which might be suitable for future studies etc.
This seminar will be hosted by Dr Jo Rick.
All welcome and no booking is necessary.
