The goal of this workshop is to bring together specialists in different regions to explore the contribution of visual analysis to the understanding of national identities and nationalist movements in the modern world. While some of the presentations may be historical in scope, the main focus is on the contemporary world – and how history is interpreted in that world. Presentations address such aspects of visual imagery as architecture, art, cinema, photography, television, and the internet.
