A day of lectures on sport and culture, plus music, food and a language taster session.
10am - inaugural remarks and welcome: Professor Keith Brown, Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, and Sr. Àlex Susanna, Director of the Institut Ramon Llull, Barcelona.
Lecture by Sr. Carles Vilarrubí, vice president of FC Barcelona - 'Barça, Sport, Culture and Education' (Samuel Alexander Lecture Theatre)
11.15am - Tasting of Catalan foods (courtesy of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava - Pirineu de Girona) and exhibition of posters and work by students of Catalan in Manchester and the North West. (Samuel Alexander North Foyer)
12 noon - Lecture by Dr Louise Johnson (Senior Lecturer and Director of Catalan Studies, University of Sheffield) - 'Sporting Culture and National Consciousness through Football and the Olympic Games' (Samuel Alexander Lecture Theatre)
1pm - Concert by Clara Sanabras trio (Samuel Alexander Lecture Theatre)
2pm Catalan Language Taster (Mansfiled Cooper building, room 2.03)
