The Geospatial Working Group (GSWG) invites you to attend an Introduction to Noteable Session on Tuesday 22 November 13:00 – 14:30.
What is Noteable?
Noteable is a browser-based coding environment designed to create, save and manage learning activities using a range of server-hosted computational notebooks.
What can Noteable do for you?
- Noteable provides all the benefits of Jupyter Notebooks and RStudio in a cloud-based platform. Access to 10 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM per users in a secure Virtual Machine.
- Noteable allows lecturers and course leaders to create assignments and grade them manually or automatically saving time and resources in larger courses.
- Students and lecturers are not required to download Noteable, meaning a seamless connection and user setup with pre-installed associated libraries.
- Noteable is easily integrated into your VLE.
- Noteable provides subject-specific environments and many other applications e.g. data cleaning, numerical simulation, machine learning and statistical modelling.
What is covered in the session?
James Stix and Guy Stevenson from Edina will cover the following areas:
• What is Noteable
• The Benefits of Noteable
• How to access Noteable
• Getting Started with Noteable
• Where to get help from EDINA
• Q&A
• Completion of online survey (this will help form an evidence-base if staff would like a subscription to Noteable)
What is covered in the Noteable Chest agreement?
Details of the Noteable Chest agreement for subscribing to the service is available at: https://www.chest.ac.uk/agreements/noteable . This URL covers: key facts, product information, service and support, useful resources, terms and conditions, products and pricing.
Obtaining an evidence base of interest
There will be a short online survey at the end of the session for attendees to complete to assess the interest for a subscription to the Noteable service at The University of Manchester.
I would encourage any staff teaching coding at The University of Manchester (from any discipline area) to please attend the session, prepare any questions for the Edina team (specific requirements for your discipline) and read the attached brochure and Chest agreement details.
Students and Research Associates are also welcome to attend the session to provide their feedback on whether Noteable would improve their learning experience or research workflow.
