Pragmatic Adventures in Open Scholarship This surgery will consist of two presentations, followed by discussion and consultation. The first talk, “Some Contexts and Pragmatics for Open Scholarship,” by Ray Siemens will explore the contexts and pragmatics of open scholarship initiatives supported by the Electronic Textual Cultures Lab (ETCL;https://etcl.uvic.ca) and the Implementing New Knowledge Environments (INKE; https://inke.ca) project in the context of the Canadian Social Knowledge Institute (C-SKI; https://inke.ca/projects/canadian-social-knowledge-institute/). The second talk, by Luis Meneses, will be on the Social Media Engine project, part of a partnership also with the Erudit consortium and the Public Knowledge Project; SME is a framework that introduces social media into the context of an Open Access repository, involving the integration of data mining and discovery tools to the end of increasing our understanding of the impact that digital technologies can have in the process of circulating knowledge, while fostering and furthering the existing relationship between researchers and society at large.
