DESCRIPTION:Prerequisites\nParticipants should have a basic familiarity w
 ith a statistical software package such as SPSS. Ideally participants sh
 ould also have taken Introduction to Data Analysis 1 or have equivalent 
 experience.\n\nOutline\nThis course provides an introduction to the theo
 ry and methods of quantitative data analysis of relationships between va
 riables\, focussing on the techniques of Chi-square tests\, correlation 
 and linear regression.\n\nObjectives\nThe course will examine relationsh
 ips between variables covering:\nThe concept of statistical significance
 \nThe theory and execution of a simple chi square test for relationships
  between categorical variables\nHow to test whether a relationship betwe
 en two interval variables exists using correlation\nHow to describe rela
 tionships between variables using a statistical model based on linear re
 gression methods\nThe use of control variables to control for confoundin
 g variables\nThe interpretation of statistical results and their use in 
 making research conclusions
