Title: A categorical view of difference and differential Galois theories
Abstract:
Janelidze’s Categorical Galois theory provides a powerful template that encompasses almost all known Galois theories, including classical Galois theory of field extensions, Grothendieck’s theory of etale fundamental group, and Magid’s theory of separable ring extensions. We will explain how Picard-Vessiot Galois theories of linear difference and differential equations fit into this framework. We will also discuss some generalisations of those theories.
