This is a course on the New Academics and Fellows programme However, those outside of this programme may attend if they feel this would be beneficial to them and are welcome to register.
Intended Leaning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Have a basic understanding of what is meant by `student engagement` and how it relates to learning
- Learn a range of practical and easy-to-implement techniques to promote student engagement in both small and large group teaching
- Understand your role as a facilitator in engaging students through active learning
- Contrast facilitation techniques with traditional stand-and-deliver approaches
- Identify the key skills required to be a good facilitator and why you need them
- Explore how the appropriate use of learning technologies can enhance student engagement and learning
- Practice a number of facilitation techniques in a safe and supportive environment
