 t: From private cities to metaverses\, contemporary design is increasing
 ly involved in producing "exit strategies" —spatial solutions for those 
 seeking to secede from state-controlled environments. These autonomous z
 ones are promoted by libertarian think-tanks and international NGOs to s
 urpass the limitations of democratic settlements\, creating an open mark
 et for governance. Once marginal in the 1970s\, these proposals are gain
 ing significant political relevance today. Proponents frame the State an
 d its regulatory frameworks as an attack on personal freedoms\, advocati
 ng for citizens to "vote with their feet"\, avoid the need for compromis
 es\, and opt out. In Latin America\, democratic fatigue has made this vi
 sion particularly compelling\, promising development through a reset anc
 hored in subscription-based affiliations rather than representative poli
 tics. Using the special economic zone of Próspera in Honduras\, the eco-
 villages of Panama\, and Argentina's large investment regime as case stu
 dies\, this paper describes how the notion of exit informs these liberta
 rian experiments. In contrast to critiques that view far-right and neo-r
 eactionary positions as merely electoral threats\, this essay argues tha
 t the promotion of autonomous enclaves represents a broader and more fun
 damental challenge to existing governance structures.\n\nLeandro Minuchi
