What Social Ties Mean
In this talk we explore the difference between relational events, that is things an actor does with others; and relational states, that is things an actor is with someone else .We discuss the implications of this distinction for multiplexity research and dormant ties. In addition we explore how this distinction helps provide context for meaning, and interpretation for interactions. This is very much preliminary research which I hope will provoke a useful discussion.
