DESCRIPTION:Friendly\, practical workshops run by leading naturalists. Fr
 om wild food-foraging and composting to bird song and insect identificat
 ion\, explore biodiversity on our doorstep.\nIdentification of our nativ
 e amphibians and an introduction to surveying\nMost people think they ca
 n identify a common frog...but would you be sure it’s not a common toad?
  Do you know the difference between a smooth newt and palmate newt and w
 ould you confidently be able to identify a great crested newt?\nThis wor
 kshop will explain how to identify the five amphibian species which are 
 common in the North West. It will also include a brief overview of the l
 ifecycle of each species\, their habitat requirements and how to survey 
 for them.\nIf you know where to look for amphibians they are fairly easy
  to see\, so if you’d like to find these spectacular animals for yoursel
 f this event is for you.\nThe workshop will be led by David Orchard who 
 has worked with the conservation of amphibians locally for over 20 years
