Title: Differential algebra of polytopes and
inversion formulas
Abstract: For any formal power series, the coefficients of its compositional inverse are certain polynomials in the coefficients of the original power series. Remarkably these polynomials can be interpreted in terms of the combinatorics of Stasheff polytopes, also known as associahedra (Loday, 2005).
Analogous link exists for the multiplicative inverse of the power series and special polytopes known as permutohedra. In the talk I will provide elementary proofs of these facts using the differential algebra of polytopes, following our recent joint work with V.M. Buchstaber. I will also discuss the link with the theory of integrable PDEs and Deligne-Mumford moduli spaces in relation with the works of Witten, Kontsevich, Getzler and McMullen.
