 cial Network Analysis in Gun Violence Prevention\n\n Every year\, thousa
 nds of people are killed and many more injured with a firearm in the Uni
 ted States. Gunshot violence is concentrated in economically and sociall
 y disadvantaged communities\, disproportionately affecting young black m
 en. In this talk\, I evaluate the Chicago Violence Reduction Strategy (V
 RS)\, a programme that aims to reduce gunshot violence via a social netw
 ork intervention aimed at high-risk individuals. The evaluation uses dat
 a on gun assaults in a social network of 123\,506 individuals in Chicago
  from 2008–2014. The network is composed of co-arrest ties\, which are p
 resent between two or more individuals when they have been arrested toge
 ther. The model estimates the effect of direct exposure to the programme
 \, as well as spillover effects where individuals whom are not directly 
 exposed to the programme may experience indirect effects through network
  transmission. The results show a reduction in the incidence of gunshot 
 victimization that is largely due to spillover effects. The reduction in
  the risk of victimization diminishes as the distance to treated individ
 uals increases\, indicating that network diffusion is critical to the ef
 ficacy of the VRS programme
