Join us for this PSI seminar with guest speaker Emrys Evans. New materials based on pi-conjugated organic radicals offer exciting opportunities to advance optoelectronics and molecular quantum information science. As optical materials, here I demonstrate that radicals can be designed with efficient luminescence via doublet spin-levels that enables high performance organic light-emitting diodes 1-3. Additionally I will present our studies on new spin-optical phenomena arising from integration of luminescence and high-spin states (quartet, quintet) in these materials 4. Our approach simultaneously supports a high efficiency of spin initialisation, manipulations and light-based read-out at room temperature.
