 dels of Marine Invertebrates\nWednesday 4 December 1-2pm\nBook on 0161 2
 75 2648 or museum@manchester.ac.uk\, free.\n\nMarion Endt-Jones\, art hi
storian and curator of the exhibition Coral: Something Rich and Strange
(29 November 2013-16 March 2014) will talk about Manchester Museum's gla
ss models of marine invertebrates\, produced by the father and son team
Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka at the end of the nineteenth century. Variou
sly described as 'obsolete science'\, 'high craft'\, or 'low art'\, the
models have\, over time\, fulfilled several roles: substitute specimens
for marine creatures that are notoriously difficult to preserve\; educat

ome fetish objects celebrated by the contemporary art scene.\n\nCollecti
on Bites is on the first Wednesday of the month\, joined by a series of
guest speakers for lunchtime conversations discussing key objects from t
 he collection. \n
