Douglas Howroyd (St Andrews) will be speaking at this research seminar, part of the Dynamical Systems and Analysis seminar series.
Abstract: Microsets heuristically represent all small scale behaviour of a set and their dimensions should therefore be related to the dimensions of the set itself. We will see how the Assouad and lower dimensions can be recovered from the Hausdorff dimensions of all microsets. Then, given a subset of the unit interval D, we will construct a set such that the set of Hausdorff dimensions attained by its microsets is exactly equal to D. This is joint work with Jonathan Fraser, Antti Käenmäki and Han Yu.
