This workshop, run by artsmethods@manchester, provides an overview of World Literatures as a debated theoretical and methodological field. Its interdisciplinary approach will draw out the political and historical implications of reading texts globally. The workshop will offer the opportunity to work critically with contemporary and cutting-edge world literatures and theory through discussion-led and practical group exercises. Participants will be asked to approach a text as ‘world literature’, facilitating an interdisciplinary dialogue that might encompass history, religion, politics, and translation as well as literature. Participants will also be encouraged to relate methods for studying world literatures to their own research practice.
Register in advance via the artsmethods@manchester Blackboard space.
