DESCRIPTION:Professor Yasunori Aizawa is visiting the MIB on Wednesday 8 
 March to deliver a seminar entitled 'Scarless\, allele-specific and sub-
 Mb-scale engineering to the human genomes'\n\n\nAbstract:\n\nOur group r
 ecently developed a genome engineering platform for cells having long\, 
 diploid and repeat-rich genomes such as human cells\, called Universal K
 nock-in System or UKiS (Nature Communications 13\, 4219\, 2022). UKiS al
 lows for precise substitution of sub-megabase-scale regions into synthet
 ic genomic sequences of our desire in biallelic and scarless manners eve
 n in human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)\; both alleles of your
  interest in autosomes can be efficiently modified and tags or markers d
 isturbing downstream analyses or purposes are not left at the engineered
  regions. UKiS has potential to expand our capability of multi-functiona
 lization of human cell for various industrial uses including therapeutic
  one. In this presentation\, I will introduce our latest applications of
  UKiS and the other engineering tools that we have established for inves
 tigating functional meanings of the noncoding genomic regions as well as
  for creating human cells for drug screening\, disease study cells and t
