In 1842, the collection of 50 Islamic manuscripts belonging to John Hutton of Marske in Yorkshire were presented to Christ’s College, Cambridge. This paper traces the provenances of this collection from north India to the Manchester bookseller, William Ford (d. 1832), from whom it was presumably purchased by Hutton.
