DESCRIPTION:All welcome.\n\nThis paper will discuss some of the key chall
enges and barriers around decolonizing the social sciences. Drawing upon
insights from a range of critical thinkers across the humanities\, the
paper seeks to challenge the reproduction of Eurocentric\, white\, colon
ial knowledges in favour of a postcolonial approach to the study of mode
rn society. The paper will demonstrate the way in which a close engageme
nt with postcolonial thought in the social sciences might be beneficial
not only for the discipline itself\, but also for institutions\, student
s\, and faculties. The paper goes onto suggest that if we are serious ab
out radically transforming our academic spaces and structures in a bid t
o move forward with the times\, then post / decolonial thinking may be t
he key to unlock such change.
