 te group actions on algebraic curves\n\nAbstract: In this talk I will di
 scuss how questions arising in classic (ordinary\, modular or integral) 
 representation theory\, such as decomposing a representation into indeco
 mposable summands or lifting an action from prime to zero characteristic
 \, can be generalized to the context of algebraic geometry. I will prese
 nt past and on-going work on finite groups actions on projective curves\
 , on canonical rings or\, more generally\, on sheaf cohomology\; every e
 ffort will be made to avoid geometric technicalities and to focus on alg
 ebraic techniques. Time permitting\, I will discuss applications related
  to Green's syzygy conjecture\, deformation theory\, Galois modules and
