DESCRIPTION:Title: Above the Alperin Weight Conjecture\n\nAbstract: Modul
ar representation theory is the study of representations of finite group
s defined over a field of positive characteristic p\, where p is a prime
. According to the local-global principle\, many aspects of the p-modula
r representation theory of a group are determined by its p-local structu
re. The Alperin Weight Conjecture predicts that the number of irreducibl
e p-modular representations of a group (a global invariant) coincides wi
th the number of its p-weights (a local invariant). In this talk\, I wil
l introduce an extension of the Alperin Weight Conjecture that was recen
tly introduced by Navarro: this statement unifies Alperin's conjecture w
ith a famous character correspondence known as the Glauberman correspond
ence. I will then show how to reduce Navarro's conjecture to a question
about quasi-simple groups. This is joint work with J. M. Martínez and N.
  Rizo.
