DESCRIPTION:Antoine Ambard (EDF R&D) is giving a research seminar on “Fue
 l materials\, modelling and safety” on Friday 19th June at 12:00  in H.1
 8 in Pariser Building. \nAll staff and students are welcome !\n\nAntoine
  Ambard has been working with EDF for 15 years in the field of nuclear f
 uel materials. Starting with the corrosion of Zr alloys in primary water
 \, he has progressively come to study all the material behaviors that ar
 e important to build a safety case.\n\nAbstract\nUtilities have to demon
 strate the safe use of nuclear fuels in operation\, in accidental condit
 ions\, during transportations taking into account handling and even in d
 eep disposal. Numerous research works are ongoing at EDF R&D to provide 
 detailed description of the behavior of materials. \nIn this talk\, the 
 speaker will try to explain why these works are needed\, what kind of mo
 deling we use and how experiments and modeling are related. Some example
 s taken from works done on delayed hydride cracking\, fuel fragmentation
 \, irradiation creep of Zr\, etc will also presented and discussed.\n\nF
