 of Chicago) will lead a Key Ideas seminar entitled ‘Theorizing Catastrop
 he’.\n\nMark Payne is Professor of Comparative Literature and Classics a
 t the University of Chicago. He is the author of Theocritus and the Inve
 ntion of Fiction (Cambridge University Press)\, The Animal Part (The Uni
 versity of Chicago Press)\, and Hontology (Zero Books)\, as well as arti
 cles on twentieth century poetry\, environmental philosophy\, weird fict
 ion\, and contemporary art.\n\nHis seminar\, “Theorizing Catastrophe\,” 
 looks at the figuration of apocalyptic freedom in theory\, and its relat
 ionship to colonial accounts of marronage (Zerilli\, Rousseau\, Jünger\,
