DESCRIPTION:The University of Manchester Gateway Programme provides a new
  opportunity for Year 7-11 learners within Greater Manchester to partici
 pate in a coherent series of academic enrichment and Higher Education aw
 areness activities.\n\nThe Y11 Skills for Success Visit focuses on impro
 ving learners’ research and team-working skills through completing a gro
 up research enquiry into a topical issue. The learners will be given a b
 rief introduction to note taking followed by a short interactive lecture
  on the topic for the day. Learners mix with pupils from other schools w
 ith the aim of creating and delivering a presentation about their resear
 ch and findings.  This task develops the learners’ communication and tea
 m-working skills and encourages them to learn from others’ experiences a
 nd expertise. \n
