To facilitate tissue regeneration and remodelling, we need to understand local microenvironment (niche). Over the past 5 years, I have focused on how tissue regeneration and remodelling are regulated by local microenvironment. I have been particularly interested how we can, by manipulating microenvironment extracellular matrix (ECM) and TGF-? signalling, change the clinical outcome of the debilitating disease, liver fibrosis and tendon injury. Using animal models, developed in my laboratory, I have gotten several key findings in the field. I would like to present those findings and discuss future directions.
