Where we live has a huge impact on our health. Our homes can help build bonds between neighbours, promote our physical and mental wellbeing, and help us live independently for longer. But how does housing affect those living with dementia, and the people who care for them?

Join the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and The University of Manchester on Friday, 10 December at 10am, for the launch of a new report examining how we can improve the lives of people living with dementia in Greater Manchester through housing. The report particularly looks at how dementia interacts with existing inequalities and already-marginalised groups, and makes clear and direct recommendations to policymakers for improving integration and quality in Greater Manchester’s housing stock.

At the event - which is available to attend either in person or online - we will hear:

• A walkthrough of the report’s recommendations around seven pressing priorities where greater integration, planning and investment can provide a better future for people living with dementia and their carers;

• Views of people with lived experience of dementia and carers that have helped shape the report;

• Case studies of innovative new housing schemes pioneered by the LGBT Foundation;

• Views and discussion with leaders across housing, health and social care in Greater Manchester.

The Housing and Living Well with Dementia: from Policy to Practice in Greater Manchester Report is being launched by the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership in collaboration with The University of Manchester (Healthy Ageing Research Group and Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing)
