DESCRIPTION:Please join the MANCEPT research cluster for a seminar with S
 imon Caney (Warwick).\n\nSimon's interests primarily lie in the applicat
 ion of political philosophy to global politics. He has written on global
  poverty\, global distributive justice\, human rights\, sovereignty\, gl
 obal governance\, self-determination\, war\, humanitarian intervention\,
  and legitimate ways of resisting global injustice. He is currently comp
 leting a book entitled 'On Cosmopolitanism: Equality\, Ecology and Resis
 tance' (Oxford University Press). Simon also has an interest in ethical 
 issues raised by climate change\, particularly the relationship between 
 human rights and climate change\, the fair share of greenhouse gas emiss
 ions\, the allocation of the burdens of combating climate change\, the n
 ature of our responsibilities to prevent dangerous climate change\, inte
 rgenerational justice\, the ethical issues surrounding some mitigation p
 olicies and the nature of a just transition to a low carbon world. He is
  currently completing a book on Global Justice and Climate Change (Oxfor
 d University Press) with Derek Bell. Finally\, Simon has a research inte
 rest in intergenerational justice and its implications for democratic th
 eory and institutional design\, publishing on both (i) what we owe futur
 e generations as well as (ii) how we can orient democratic politics to g
 ive better protection to the legitimate interests of future generations.
