DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Maleeha Khawaja (Sheffield)\n\nTitle: Primitive alge
braic points on curves\n\nAbstract: We say a number field K is primitive
if K and Q are the only sub extensions of K. \nFor example\, numbers fi
elds of prime degree are primitive. \nLet C be a curve defined over Q wi
th genus greater than 1. An algebraic point P on C is primitive if the n
umber field Q(P) is primitive.\nWe present several sets of sufficient co
nditions for C to have finitely many primitive points of a given degree.
