DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening with Dr Nicholas Cullinan to he
 ar about his experiences as Director of the National Portrait Gallery. T
 his talk is part of our free Whitworth Studies Programme and open to all
 .\n\nDr Cullinan is the twelfth Director of the NPG\, haven taken up the
  post in 2015. Cullinan was formerly Curator of Modern and Contemporary 
 Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art\, New York. In his previous role a
 s Curator of International Modern Art at Tate Modern he curated Henri Ma
 tisse: The Cut-Outs exhibition at Tate Modern (2014). Cullinan has in fa
 ct returned to the National Portrait Gallery where he was once a part-ti
 me Visitor Services Assistant. Cullinan was educated at the Courtauld In
 stitute of Art where he gained his BA\, MA and PhD. He has published and
  lectured internationally\, writing for journals including the Burlingto
 n Magazine\, Frieze and Artforum. Join us for an evening of fascinating 
 insights into the mind and experiences of one of our leading museum dire
