DESCRIPTION:This seminar forms part of the ESRC Festival of Social Scienc
 e and is brought to you by MICRA \n\nInternational perspectives on polic
 y and practice. One day seminar exploring the ways in which urban and ci
 ty environments can contribute to ‘healthy’ and ‘active’ ageing.\n\nThe 
 aim of the day’s events will be to illustrate how social science researc
 h can contribute to creating age-friendly urban environments from the pe
 rspective of older people\, policy makers and businesses. We will bring 
 together researchers from a range of disciplines\, such as urban sociolo
 gy\, social gerontology\, urban planning and architecture\, policy maker
 s and representatives of older people’s groups and businesses to present
  and discuss findings from the most up-to-date research. Our target audi
 ence will be people who are working to develop age-friendly environments
  within the UK. This will include local government\, housing trusts\, co
 mmunity organisations\, voluntary sector and private sector organisation
