In this talk, Andrew McGettigan (University of the Arts London), author of The Great University Gamble: Money, Markets and the Future of Higher Education (London: Pluto, 2013), will discuss the current crisis affecting the university sector. Hit in the spring of 2018 by the most severe industrial dispute since records began, English Higher Education faces an uncertain future because of increasing government interference in the sector, constantly shifting goal posts, and, above all the failure of the current tuition fees and student loans system.
