DESCRIPTION:Please note that this Network is open to all schools who are 
 in STOCCAT.\n\n \n\nSEERIH\, at The University of Manchester\, is a spec
 ialist hub which supports teacher development.\n\nTo facilitate forward 
 planning in schools\, all three meetings are open to book now. Please bo
 ok tickets for the sessions you are able to attend. We encourage teacher
 s attend all sessions wherever possible\, in order to get the most out o
 f the experience.\n\nThe network welcomes new and established primary sc
 ience subject leaders of all experience levels to:\n\n-share and improve
  practice\n\n-speak with other subject leaders in your region about the 
 issues that are affecting each of you.\n\n-engage in expert-led professi
 onal development inputs to support you with up-to-date issues\, skills a
 nd resources.\n\n \n\nAttending these termly networks is an interactive 
 and practical way to help you to:\n\n \n\n-tackle the issues in your sch
 ool's science curriculum\n\n-support you in your role as a leader\n\n-ra
 ise the profile of science\n\n-improve the outcomes for your pupils.\n\n
  \n\nExpectations of attending the network include engaging with pre-cou
 rse tasks/reading and submitting your response to a gap task. This is a 
 compulsory element of the network to ensure the CPD is meaningful and im

 n\n \n\nPractical work is a distinctive aspect of science teaching\, but
  its role in primary science isn't always clear\, with teachers often un
 sure how to use it most effectively to support learning. This session ex
 plores a range of potential purposes for practical work in primary scien
 ce\, with a key focus on ensuring the intended science learning is expli
 cit and focused.\n\n \n\nOutcomes:\n\n \n\n-To know when and how to make
  good use of practical work to enhance learning in science\n\n-To unders
 tand how to plan for these opportunities\n\n-To explore a host of practi
 cal ideas and activities matched to the current National Curriculum for

  5BN\n\n \n\nWhat a good one looks like – Moderating primary science\n\n
  \n\nAssessment is at the heart of teaching and learning. This half-day 
 session will provide an opportunity to compare work across year groups a
 nd develop a clear understanding of progress and what ‘secure’ looks lik
 e in each year group. Discussions with other science leaders will ensure
  next steps in science can be identified\, leading to greater cohesion a
 cross the whole school.\n\n \n\nOutcomes:\n\n \n\n-To explore current be
 st practice in primary science assessment and understand current assessm
 ent expectations\n\n-To explore approaches to whole school science moder

 p between art and science!\n\n \n\nTeaching pupils to think both critica
 lly and creatively is key to the development of a society which understa
 nds and is fully engaged with the world around them. It’s important to p
 rovide our pupils with enough knowledge and understanding of the world a
 round them so they make informed decisions: i.e. they are scientifically
  literate. This session aims to prepare our future scientists and techno
 logists- in a range of creative contexts\, including art.\n\n \n\nOutcom
 es:\n\n \n\n-To experience a host of practical ideas for teaching scienc
 e\n\n-To cultivate\, develop and raise science capital through a creativ
 e\, cross-curricular approach\n\n-To extend and enrich science activitie
 s for all ages across the primary school.
