 ltural Practices at The University of Manchester invites you to an In Co
 nversation event between Professor Sook-Kyung Lee\, Director of the Whit
 worth and renowned journalist\, broadcaster\, and author\, Professor Gar
 y Younge at the Whitworth Art Gallery.\n\n\nPlease note: This event will
  start promptly at 6:30pm and there will be no entry afterwards.\n\nSOOK
 -KYUNG LEE\n\nSook-Kyung Lee is Director of the Whitworth and Professor 
 of Curatorial Practices at the University of Manchester. She was Artisti
 c Director of the 14th Gwangju Biennale (2023)\, titled soft and weak li
 ke water\, which explored themes of resistance\, indigeneity\, decolonia
 lity and ecology. Prior to the Whitworth Lee was Senior Curator (Interna
 tional Art) at Tate Modern\, working in exhibitions\, collection display
 s and acquisitions. She also headed a major multi-year research initiati
 ve ‘Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational’ at Tate Modern\, overse
 eing its strategic vision and associated programming. Lee served as the 
 Commissioner and Curator of the Korea Pavilion at the 56th Venice Bienna
 le and is currently curating the Japan Pavilion at the 60th Venice Bienn
 ale\, represented by the artist Yuko Mohri.
