DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Orla McGrath (University of Leeds)\n\nTitle: Partial
Difference Algebraic Groups\n\nAbstract: A difference algebraic group i
s a subgroup of the general linear group defined by difference equations
. Groups definable in ACFA (algebraically closed fields with an automorp
hism) have been widely studied\, with applications including the proof o
f the Manin-Mumford conjecture. In contrast\, partial difference fields
do not admit a model companion\, so instead we use an algebro-geometric
approach to study groups defined over fields with finitely many commutin
g endomorphisms. In this talk I will introduce these partial difference
algebraic groups and present some initial results\, including the finite
ness of their defining ideals and the existence of a dimension polynomia
 l.\n
