 y rich visual culture. Walter Crane\, the Arts and Crafts designer\, the
 orist and socialist\, was a key figure in this world. His astonishing bo
 dy of work challenged the artistic and political establishment of the ti
 me. His connections to Manchester played a central role in Crane's fusio
 n of art and politics. The exhibition features items such as book illust
 rations\, political cartoons\, socialist emblems and works of art.\n\nTh
 is exhibition has been devised and selected by Morna O'Neill\, Mellon As
 sistant Professor\, History of Art Department\, Vanderbilt University\, 
 Nashville.\n\nThe University of Manchester holds the Walter Crane Archiv
 e\, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund\, Friends of the Whitworth\, The
  Headley Trust and the National Manuscripts Conservation Trust.\n\nThe P
