 hinkers and curators who explore the driving forces\, influences and sou
 rces of inspiration within contemporary art. The series is a collaborati
 on between the Whitworth and Manchester Metropolitan University and is p
 rogrammed by Pavel Büchler.\n\n28 February  –  Hilary Jack\n\nHilary Jac
 k\, a graduate of Manchester School of Art\, began her artistic career i
 n as a painter but since the early 2000s has turned her attention toward
 s sculpture\, installation and intervention. Her work often involves the
  rescue of discarded or lost everyday objects and materials - from broke
 n umbrellas to the omnipresent turquoise plastic bags caught in tree bra
 nches - often repaired and returned to where the artist had found them. 
 In recent years she has also produced a number of large-scale outdoor ar
 tworks and site-specific installations including commissions for The Nat
 ional Trust\, The Tatton Park Biennial\, Compton Verney\, and Bury Sculp
 ture Centre. These re-imagine the history and current use of the site as
  in her most recent commission\, Host\, where bronze casts of weeds and 
 wild plants emerge from the cracks in walls and paving across the Manche
 ster business district Spinningfields (on view until 28 February). Aside
  from her artistic practice\, Hilary made her mark in Manchester as the 
 co-founder with Paul Harfleet of Aparment\, an artists-run space in a on
 e-bedroom council flat that from 2004 to 2009 introduced some of the mos
 t interesting and innovative young work in the city.\n
